MAURICE LACROIX

About This Brand

Maurice Lacroix has a rich history dating back to its foundation in 1975, originally operating under the name Desco von Schulthess, established in 1889. Initially serving as an assembly facility in Saignelégier, Switzerland, Desco von Schulthess primarily manufactured watches for other brands following its acquisition of Tiara in 1961. However, the rise of Maurice Lacroix's popularity led to a pivotal decision in 1980, as Desco von Schulthess ceased third-party production to concentrate exclusively on the burgeoning Maurice Lacroix brand. In a significant move in 1989, the acquisition of casemaker Queloz S.A. facilitated the brand's transition to in-house production of essential design components. Throughout the 1990s, Maurice Lacroix experienced rapid growth, propelled by its attractive designs and favorable price-to-performance ratio. This momentum culminated in the brand's independence in 2001, establishing its own workshops. A milestone moment arrived in 2006 with the introduction of the inaugural in-house movement, the ML106 hand-wound chronograph, solidifying Maurice Lacroix as a vertically integrated manufacturer. By 2010, the company boasted a workforce of 220 individuals and enjoyed a global presence with 4,000 points of sale across more than 60 countries, underscoring its position as a prominent player in the watchmaking industry.
